That 36"shockwave mod in the video was a pretty cheap mod,
I just used all the stock hardware and put a motor mount in.
          And a 4074 2200kv Motor and a 120a esc with added caps,
The prop is a modded x446/3.
It is running on 4s in parallel and does about 45mph and with good run times.
The hull came with a gas motor off of craigslist for 75.00 and extras.

Hey guys I decided to get my feet wet with the Osprey,I understand that it is a better hull than the Vanquish for a few reasons . I have a couple of questions as I was looking on youtube and didnt see that many mods for motors. Most of the videos were nose diving issues so I thought I would ask about a motor mod and what is entailed with this change. Hobby king is suggesting 2200kv as I saw a Turnigy AquaStar 3974-2200KV Water Cooled Brushless Motor and didnt know if it would have anymore speed capability. I am open to any suggestions even outside of Hobby King. I dont know if faster is better for this hull but I am willing to find out. Thanks guys any help is always great.

The Osprey is quite a large boat & a 4074 2200kv is to small, ideally a lot on a budget put a Leopard 56 series motor in. You can get away with something like the Leopard 4082 1600kv on 6s & T180a esc & get around mid 50s or a Leopard 4092 which should give high 50s. Theirs a few vids on Youtube with the 4082 motor doing mid 50s.

                    Jlitz.
I race an Osprey in our EB (6s) Mono class.
                    Motor is a Nue 1527/1y (1250kv) ESC is a HiModel GX 200A (8s Version) Prop is a 447/3 & a 450/3. Batteries are 'Haiyin' & 'China Hobbyline' brands.
Not an expensive set up at all. And it wins races from time to time.
A TP Power motor, 4092 1350kv for around $125.00 would spin the 447/3 just as well.
There are many options for a 40" boat.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

Thanks guys I have some direction now and thanks to you fellows I dont have to waist money reinventing the wheel. While I am on the topic how about engine mounts and watercoolers are thier specifics for each and would the place where I get the motor have those? I would love to assemble this driveline so when I get on the water I have little issues as possable. I use west system for epoxy I hope that will work on the engine mounts and any other installations in the hull although I am open to any recomendatiions. Once again Thank you all for your valuable info I know how it has been for me flying airplanes and helis the correct info can save a bunch of money and time so I do appreciate it all.

West resin is excellent resin for laminating things in with glass or carbon cloth, you can also add various filler powders to it for bonding or get some Z poxy 30min epoxy adhesive which is more convenient for bonding things into the hull. Good places like OSE can supply motors & relivent cooling jackets etc & also offer good advice on something your not sure on when buying.
