Well, finally got my boat all situated with the new motor (Leopard 4082 1600), 1 piece flex, Swordfish ESC, etc. and got to run it some more the last couple of days. Well, on 6S the boat is damn near as fast as it was with the Feigao 12XL on 8S. I tried 8S today just to see as the electrics can handle it, well it turns out the hull can't :D. First time hitting full throttle on a pass launched the boat pretty far into the air causing it to land and hit the water harder than I have personally ever witnessed before. It then skipped back out and landed hitting the water the second hardest I have ever witnessed before lol. The second landing had that "nothing on the inside is attached anymore" sound to it and the boat was dead in the water. Retrieved it and found that pretty much everything on the inside had broken free- motor mount, stuffing tube, steering servo, ESC tray- everything but the batteries which are just velcroed to the bottom of the hull
.
On the plus side, it gave me the chance to laser cut some rails for the motor mount, stuff tube support and ESC tray, which as flimsy as the bottom of this boat was, should stiffen it up quite a bit. I have been wanting to do this for some time, but didn't want to go through the hassle of removing the original motor mount- if only I had known it was as easy as smacking it into the water at 60+ lol.
Going to take some work on the bottom, there are a lot of cracks in the gel coat that don't show in the pics, but at least it survived the impact for the most part.
