    Revolt 30 - Grim L45X68- Blown ESC

Got a full day of running in on my Revolt. Was going great so I decided to try the Grim L45X68 prop. 2 runs were great but a hole shot in run #3 toasted the ESC. I was concerned that would happen as it's a 60A ESC and the Grim L45X68 pulls 90A+ on the hole shot and 70A+ WOT cruising.

Good thing my Seaking 180A showed up yesterday!

    LOVE the boat though!

I'm glad it did not burn the boat down!

Me too. I went against my better judgement and put the upgraded prop on just because I had it on me and figured once I run the X642 I probably wouldn't be running the L45x68 anymore. Once I get back from vacation, July 3, and my x642 comes in I will be sending it in to get bananced and sharpened. I will also be ordering a Neu 1515 2200.

Did you balance and sharpen the prop? Also a very "wet" running boat would cause additional amp draw.

Not this prop. I have been reading all the warnings about the material and have decided to have someone thats well versed in it to it for me. As for how it was running. It was fairly wet. I was running the rigging in the stock form aside of angling the rudder back as much as possible. I was using 2x 2S 5000 packs as far back in the tray as possible. I probably could have taken some trim out. I definitely did not see any chine walking with this prop that some have seen.

Sounds like the boat was running really wet... In a perfect storm that "could" cause a failure. Do you have any boat clubs in your area? It might be worth going to see them and get a better feel for boats in general.

Not a one. I am traveling in uncharted waters! :-) On a side note, my Atlantic tug and PVC recovery device worked awesome. Though I need to do some modding to that so it doesn't take 10 mins to make a recovery. lol
