So I have a few Aquacraft 60 amp esc's laying around with blown caps. I also have an abundance of electrolytic caps laying around so I got bored and decided it might be worth while to see if I can fix these puppies. I yanked off the cap from the esc and filled in the area where the cap was pulled with some fiberglass resin after topping off the cap leads with a little silicone dab. Next up I spliced in a 35v 1500 micro ferrad cap. I did a preliminary test today in a SV-27 with a 1500kv motor and a 40mm 3 blade prop. The esc was cold and so was the motor. The replacement cap was a little hot but well under the 103 degrees centigrade limit. I plan on doing some more test to see how well this will last. The boat seemed to operate as normal but I did have a problem where the throttle stayed at full out after I let off the trigger. It lasted about 3 seconds. Long enough to make me think I had lost a boat but then it stopped. I retrieved the boat and called it a day. I also have a pro boat 60 amp esc that I will try this on if it works out for the aquacraft esc's. More on this to come.....
