Would like to get a 30" rc boat. Pros and cons of each hull please. Avid RC car racer for 25 years want to get on the water.
Live right on the Erie Canal
thanks Dan
A lot depends on your goals and what you like. For rougher water the DV has a slight advantage, although no 30" boat is immune from wind and waves. For smoother water a cat handles more like a car, cutting tight corners and having good speed. Not all cats are created equal, narrow cats don't turn well.
Some folks like the looks of a DV some like a catamaran - that is part of the enjoyment of the sport. Either will work under any conditions, the main advantage to the mono is it is less prone to blow over heading into a wind....not that they won't blow over - they can and will. Cats have a bit more speed potential, but being air compression hulls they have a greater tendency to flip over running into a wind.
Personally I like the Revolt and Motley Crew best for each hull type, but the Impulse 31 and BlackJack 29 are great too. I'm sure others will chime in with their ideas.
