    4082 on 6-s

running a homemade rigger with a leopard 4082 2,000kv. dinogy 6-s seaking 180 (new version ) abc 45x68 prop. shrink tubing over esc to battery connectors (I'm cautious) rtr weight 8-1/2 lbs I know 8-1/2 is too heavy , building new boat at 7-1/2 lbs. boat runs fine but motor and esc hot ( batteries barely warm) shrink tubing over connectors slightly stuck together. setup thermalled with octura 1450 . is 2000kv too high? looking for reliable fun boat that runs in the 70's. any help appreciated. with 45x68 ran 71 mph . with 1450 visibly slower. no apparent drag on cable.

Post some pictures of the setup and of the boat hardware,
    Like setup to go run.
2000kv on 6s is 44400rpm and that is for 2 minute saw runs and may be smoke to.

2000KV is definitely a SAW or 2 lap record setup on 6S. 7 1/2 lbs still on the heavy side. Going to 1000KV is a bit overreaction. 1400-1600KV on 6S should give you a nice running boat.

Yes 1000kv is to low on 6s, the Leopard 4082 1600kv on 6s is a good combination that has been used many times for quite reliable set ups in various boats on this forum. The 1600kv motor is also a y wind which will make things a bit safer further.

Your motor has an excessive Kv for the size/weight/design of your rigger. That prop and motor should give you over 80 mph but setup or boat design won't let it go that fast. As above, a Kv closer to 1500 would help keep things cooler and allow the speed wanted without excessive amp draw.

Successful riggers are not easy to design especially without experience. Sponson design, aoa and relationship to CG are critical. Just because it is a "rigger" does not mean it will be blazing fast.

its a 45 size daytona designed by don pinckert. I built it too heavy. with an older ops 67 it ran 82 mph.

Nitro riggers often don't work well as FE boats. Nitro riggers are lighter meaning that when converted to FE they require different sponsons and/or aoa. Very few nitro riggers have seen any real success as FE racers. Since it was not designed as an FE boat it is no wonder it's performance is sub-par.

Your boat is very heavy for this set up..better of have one in the 6lbs range.BTW Pinckert boats run very wet compared with new designs so if you really want to use your motor/esc you can go with a Jae design rigger.Gill
