    FC shocker motor suggestions

Just getting back into boats and have a fighter cat shocker hull on order.
Thinking a single as i can never seem to finish a twin.
What motor do you guys suggest. Thinking 1515 1.5y (1500kv) on 6s.
Or would a bigger motor be better leopard 4082 ???

I haven't ran mine yet, so I'm not sure how it will perform. I put in a Sirius 1717 and Swordfish 8s/200A ESC. The tunnel on the Shocker is narrow and flat. There is really only one place the motor will fit under the hatch. Joe at MBP custom made my motor mount to be a narrow and low as possible. There is tons of room in sponsons for twins though....

The hull seems to be set up better for twins. There's more room in sponsons then the the 41" Fantasm hull and there is more real estate to mount stingers also.
A single can be done, just wanted to give you a heads up on the flat narrow tunnel.

Joel seems to have a lot of experience with these boats I would probably go twin. With the money saved on a big single esc and powerful motor its not that much more expensive to go twins. If running a twin setup I would say the leopard 4074 with a high-ish kv on 6s. Like 2200 kv on 4-6s. 4082 is just overkill imo. The shocker is an awesome boat good choice bro

I built a Shocker as a SAW racer for 6S. The Neu 1527 fit fine on the tunnel and pushed the cat well into the 90s before the first - and last - blow over. The 'glass hull couldn't withstand the high energy crash and was irreparable. All I can say is the cat worked great as a single.

If built as a twin do not use motors with a 2200 Kv on 6S! That is a SAW motor and would severely limit the boat's use. A better Kv choice would be between 1500 and 1700 in 1515 or 1521 sizes.

That's another thing, the FG hull definitely benefits from some reinforcing.

Good to know. I haven't seen too many built as singles and I'm anxious to run this one.

2200kv seaking 180 is a setup a number of people have run without issues on 6s for saw boats. You can always run on 4s1p per side and get great performance.

I set several SAW catamaran records with a 2200 Kv motor on 6s, I know more about the combination than most. It will fry the T180 eventually, probably sooner than later if the boater runs for too long. 250 amps is easy to achieve with good packs and enough prop. Rpm on the water will be around 40,000 which is hard on drivelines. Do the math. If the OP wants more than a minute of run time there are far better choices.

OTOH it is a great choice for 4s and propped correctly can achieve very good speeds.

I have a genesis hull with a 1515 2200kv on 4s 2p near ready to go just waiting for a few items to arrive.
From what i have been told it should be a mid 50 mph setup.
Being the shocker is same lenght but wider i thought a 6s setup would be better and i would like to hit that 60mph area.
If i went twins i have a brand new PB 1800kv 6 pole motor so would only need 1 more keeping costs down.
These push a 30 inch hull no problem into the 40 mph area,50s with bigger props.

Would running 5s on 2 of these be a reasonable setup ???
Thanks for your time to post guys much appreciated.
                          Fluid what is OTOH ???

I have watched that video a lot, simply awsome. If i could afford to loose a whole boat i would love to try some thing like that.
Unfortunatly i cant and have to be happy running sport setups :-)
