Which bushing is better in a Drive Strut: Brass or Teflon?

I'm looking up hardware for a project that will begin by the end of this month. It will be using a .150" flex shaft running to a 3/16" prop shaft. I'm looking at 1900kv to 2100kv on 4s.

With that said, would the strut be better if it used a brass bushing or a teflon bushing?

I always chose brass bushing, mainly for ease of removal and installation.
      Teflon are a pita.
Havent had a problem with brass yet...

I dont like how teflon only supports a small section of the prop shaft. I have seen teflon bushes look oval shaped and have a lot of play. Not sure if that is peoples prop not balanced properly or just how they go after a short time.

            That's true ozzy.
I also feel like speed master makes very nice hardware and they use a bushing... That says something right there

The project is a Vac-U-Pickle (27" hydro). I was thinking about getting the Speedmaster 21 for it.

I put a speed master 21 flat bottom on my Elam hull. The piece is wayyy nicer than it looks in the pics. It's built like a tank too. Can't go wrong. Just make sure the mounting bracket foot print isn't too large for your hull. I've never seen a pickle so I have no idea what the transom dimensions are

I also am a fan of speed master struts and rudders good gear. I have had a few cheaper struts with teflon bushings but drill them out loctite in a piece of 1/4" brass tube and make a brass bushing out of some 7/32 brass tube and solder a small piece of 1/4 on the end to stop it from going up the stuffer tube.

                    G'day Ozzie.

We jokingly refer to that as a "self centering prop shaft"
                    How are you?
As for bushes or struts. I've used both & find each as good as the other. True, Heaving Earth, the lead teflon bushes are a bother to change if needed. But I've got boats that have been running & racing for three or 4 years with the original lead teflon bushes. And also some that I've had to change in that time too.
But you are right Ozzie The prop is what does the damage in most cases.

                        All things are going well.
Preparing boats for the Queensland State Titles that start tomorrow for the long weekend. Three days of fun & frivolity. Being held on the lakes at the paper mill in Petrie if you can make it for a look.
                        Cheers.
                        Paul.
