I'm not sure which is the fastest but I would consider stability and upgradability as well. You may not want it now but later on you might want to change things.

Impulse 26 and impulse 31, my buddy has a black jack and it seems to be way faster than my 31 and they got the same power plants

Given similar power plant, a cat is always going to be the faster boat, the wetted area on a mono is greater and there is more drag.

Guess I shoulda spent the extra 19 bucks lol. J/k I like the deep v boats. I always see worse accidents with cats. They seem to flip easier

I know what you mean, I only recently found out that I prefer hydro hulls, I also fell in love with tunnel hulls. So one's taste may change over the course of a long time. meanwhile, enjoy your IM 31 and the rough water handling of monos!
                Cheers!

The new blackjack should be the fastest boat in their fleet-- CAT hull and 1800kv motor.
If you want more speed out of the Impulse, be sure you are using a good prop. You can also upgrade the motor to something like 2200KV and an 180A ESC (4S).

I bet the Stiletto would be even faster stock but it has been discontinued.

I own a stiletto with upgraded outboard and I ran it with the stock setup with 5s and surprise the stock 60A esc can handle it
