    sending stuff

was just wondering why so many of the ppl in the swap shop ( and in general) just wont send stuff outside usa and canada ? is it that much harder to send something to a different part of the world. as long as the buyer is paying for shipping why would that matter ? please enlighten me here. been wondering about this for a wile.

I use USPS priority mail and have sent stuff as far away as Australia and so far (knock on wood) I haven't had a bit of trouble. Although when sending outside of the U.S. I have to fill out a bit more paperwork and have to stand in line at the post office to personally give it to the postal worker (can't just drop it in the box).

I am a big fan of snail mail. Stuff gets sent right to my door and no UPS guy holding it for ransom . I will not order an item if it is being shipped UPS, in most cases when I order some thing from the U.S via UPS I end up paying more than the item is worth in duty alone. I have already paid for the item once why should I have to pay again?

so no one knows why it aparantly is so hard for ppl to send stuff from usa ?? when i read on here most ppl only send to "lower 48 states and canada" even worse on e-bay. they do after all cut most of the world off from buying whatever they are selling.

Cam, I agree, if a company only offers UPS. I will not purchase from them. It is not the duty charge but the brokerage fee that is outrageous. Their paperwork (brokerage) fee for an item valued at $26.00 is $25.00!!!

I also have been burned by UPS
                    never again

Yes it is real pain in the butt when I read ads for something that I would like to buy but it says only lower 48 states but if I ever want to sell something I have to ship it out of Canada 9 times out of 10

It is kinda one sided but nothing us none USA people can do about it

I think in part it has to do with the rate of ebay rip offs .I feel more comfortable shipping to someone in a place where I think I have a better chance of recovery if that item "mysteriously" doesn't arrive or payment doesn't clear.
That and if you read stories of a certain countries customs "mysteriously" losing packages on a regular basis it tends to make one gun shy of dealing with the people in that country...
