ok, I'm an old hobby guy that has to build something. So I started on a Fe rigger. I have a 36-60-2700 water- cooled motor left over from my last project. I also collected a 4mm flex drive, strut, rudder, 100 amp esc, and some assorted 3S lipos. I adjusted some jae 21 fe rigger plans to use the building materials that I can find in Austin. Only one franchised hobby shop with limited building materials. I scaled the plans to fit the 2 foot birch plywood sheets that I found at Michaels. So my tub is 24 inches long. I found some forum discussions indicating the cg should be just behind the middle of the tub, just about even with the aft end of the sponsons. Now having scruples about where to mount the Motor! Seems like it can't go too far behind the Cg? Battery and esc forward of the cg. Any Suggestions? Will post bild pictures next time.

A lot of riggers including the JAE use a 60% - 40% cg position, this can be done by measurments or weight ie measurment from the sponson tip to the rear of the tub (hull) then 60% of that is from the sponson tip back to where the cg will be or 40% of the o/a length in from the rear of the tub = the same place. Personally i use the weight method which arrives at the same place, the turn fin also should be around the same area as the cg.
