I don't really think it does... The twins I've seen are VERY fast, but they all suffer the same issues... You have to get both sides PERFECTLY MATCHED... which is tough to do. Props, etc... all have to be matched and in alignment. If one is off, it's a "drag"... literally... Much easier to tune a single.

That said... twins ARE very cool! :)

Don't let people run you off... Everyone has their own unique online personna... I suspect even Rumdog would be worth having a beer with when he's not online... :)

How about some input/opinions on how far back the leading edge of the rudder should be from the prop, on mono, cat, or hydro?

                  Kevin,

As I understand it, and conventional wisdom indicates, the drive dog should be (reasonably) in line with the front of the rudder blade to minimize crossplay between the prop and rudder which could cause "steerage" and other gremlins. Of course the rudder is, out of necessity on inline rudders further back but the prop thrust cone hits the rudder symmetrically.

Funny you bring this up because just now I trimmed a Spd stinger to meet this criteria on a little mono "hotrod" project I'm building for myself

Properchopper please send out post pics of you hotrod mono project you are building. I would like to see. my other question is how do you determine the links that the rudder should be out from the back of the boat and also the actual length of the rudder? is that determined by the size of the boat?

Hi, I am just getting parts for my twin expresscraft thunderbolt build.

the rear edge of the rudder is flush with the dog side of the prop.

Do you believe this will cause any issues? -dual struts and single center rudder will be used.

The hull is quite wide so maybe the props are far enough from rudder to cause any issues?

I would like to keep this rudder since next size up would go 2" further back and will mess up the looks....
