Yeah Alex that's true. It's fun pushing limits no doubt, I figured I would just let him know what he is getting into, so he understands it may or may not work out the way he wants it to
Finally cooked my stock esc BJ 26

I agree with Both of you. My first was a MG bought from FineDesign, with a leopard 4082, 2200kv motor. I never bothered to read Chris' instruction and caution and I just slapped two 3s in series and thought here I go, the maiden was literally 5 seconds. I was extremely lucky that nothing blew up, no bad smell, the boat just stopped. Came home, registered here as a member and started to read and learn. Up graded to a Seaking 180 ESC and been enjoying that MG and FE in general for the last two and half years!
The fun is not just finding what is going to work or not, but also exchanging idea/info with people here, of course, the occasional fire works ( I don't mean mechanical or electronic) is a bonus and make this all the more entertaining!Too many boats, not enough time...Comment

Im not taking jabs at any particular person on this thread. Didnt mean to come off that way. Like I said if somebody says they tried it and ran into this problem or that, then its wise to pay attention. I dont ever recommend a " high performance " set up to beginners unless they are already doing it and looking for help. But if they want to try something different and are ok with the possible complications than I see no reason for people to just start telling them it wont work or it cant be done. Sometimes the things that have greater potential for problems also have a great potential for learning.Comment

Yep. Go buy a cheap kayak. BTW - What a lot of us mean by overkill is, you can achieve comparable speeds with a smaller motor, not necessarily just flat out too much power. For example I have two mono's, one has a 1600kv 4082 leopard on 6s, and the other has a 2200kv 4074 leopard on 4s. The 6s is only slightly faster, maybe 5mph faster.Comment

My definition of overkill my first brushless boat proboat fastech ended with q cc 2200 mamba monste 6s x442 lasted a couple runs till the flex seized spun the stuffing tube destroyed the hull then I started listening to other member I now rum a similar setup in a Df29 5and6s and its lasted what a little experience and maintenance won't do in this hobbyComment

have to agree and disagree. When i was new to brushless power systems in boats if i would have listened to the advice of some of the mofe experienced guys it would have sav me over 1000$ in escs, but if i listen to people say i couldnt or it wasnt a good idea most of my boats would have become boring long ago and i would have gave up on FE boats. So i guess i would say start out safe until you have the understanding of what you are doing then push them over the top. Not meaning to offend anybody just my opinionComment

Hey guys, I appreciate everyone's input and opinion. I even appreciate the slight debate that ensues. I have ordered the parts so we'll see how it works for me. I've had this boat for a couple years now and have seen it upside down many times with the stock setup on 6s. I understand it what is going to happen with my new electronics. I'm up for the challenge. My goal is simply to push this boat to it's limits. Then if that's not enough, the boat will go on a shelf and I will post a thread on here for which hull you guys recommend for my motor/esc/bat.
I am starting to sand the hull down to fix some stress cracks and going to add some fiberglass to the inside while I'm waiting for my parts. Really don't know what I'm doing in this department but I'm doing some research and a lot of sanding.
Thanks -RedComment
