I notice the seawing 120 esc says it has over temp protection. Wondering if it shuts the unit down completely or is it a soft cut off.
Just curious is all.
Not trying to hijack , but mine kept running until the caps were bulged, the thermal protection never kicked in. I have a suspicion that by then something would have been damaged. The caps can be replaced, though.
Is it a newer one? I dont recall seeing it in the specs before but I may have just missed it.I have one that seems to run fine for a bit but then just cuts off. I was wondering if the temp protection was doing it. I swapped it out for a new one and it works fine in the same set up.

Well, I don't know, it was in a boat that I bought here but seems to be the later version because the telltale sign is how the blue cooling tube looks, the newer ones has only one rib where as the older ones there were two or three ribs on the pipe to grab the silicone hose. Mind you, mine would still work, but I changed a new one with the intention of replacing the bulged caps.
You sure it's not the LVC kicking in?
Just noticed in the very last sentence of the trouble shooting section of the instructions. The over temp mode is a soft cut off same as lvc. Good to keep in mind when using the lvc protection.

Thanks! I need to start reading those instruction!
