Got my Blackjack 29 in this week. I'm new to the boats but, based on my other RC experience this boat is a nice piece of kit. Well built, high end parts, very nice. Waiting on my batteries to get this boat in the water, can't wait.
Proboat Blackjack 29, my first FE!

mmathews, I 've had mine 2 months and really love it. Will you be running 4S or 6S?
I learned a TON from the guys on this forum but here are some things I learned very quickly: Make sure you upgrade the motor-ESC and battery connectors to 5.5mm before it even hits the water, and watch out for the skinny motor wires and how hard you run it or you'll fry them like I did. I got 4 runs out of mine before I melted the wires off the motor and had to replace it. It was my fault because I tinkered with the flex cable and put too much load on the motor. The stock motor on 6S wont tolerate a prop any larger than the stock prop without burning the wires off either. Horizon Hobby's warranty is really good if you have any issues.
I found putting blocks of styrofoam in front of the stock battery trays allowed me to move the batteries forward enough to get my center of gravity forward to reduce the bouncing at high speed.
Get yourself a $20 laser temperature gun. You'll use it every time you run your boat and it'll save you a ton of money in the long run by knowing what temperatures you're hitting with each run. It'll be the most crucial tool in your kit.
I ran mine this afternoon and it doesn't hesitate to exceed 50mph. Enjoy it!Comment

Hey mmatthews
here is a video showing the mystic,(same hull as geico and BJ) with stock motor (and a hk 180 esc) running on a prather 220. That prop gave good speed and runtimes.running on nano 45-90 and alittle later in the clip 65-130c
no fancy video, I was alone :-)
may I ask if anybody know, why they changed the rudder on the BJ from how it was on the Mystic ? looks more like a Kintec type now.Drammen rock CityComment
