    waterthru flex cable

I have 2 boats that seem to have water coming in thru the flex cable? I have sealed everything well and tested in bathtub as well as pressure test on water cooling system so I think I've narrowed it down to the flex drive. I grease all the time and I still gets in. Any suggestions? Should I try some sort of oring or seal beween prop and strut? The 2 boats are a renegade rigger and sv 27 and a minor problem with a mini vee converted to flex drive. I just want a dry boat before I can move on to upgrades. Thanx Shawn

Use heat shrink over the drive line and strut connection. I also use a seal made out a grommet or water line between the prop and strut. Leave enough gap so that it does not bind at full power when the flex cable shortens.

If you do not use the prop seal, fill the drive tube with marine grease and use a short piece of water line inside of the hull over where the flex shaft exits the drive tube to form a seal.
