    OSE Mini Ourboard

    Hi Guys

I have had been running the OSE Mini Outboard for quite some time now. Last week my boat flipped in the pond and motor kept on running under the water. Got it out & switched off. After a few minutes I ran it again with no issues. Wanted to do another run but the ESC didn't come on. After trying to solve the issue I realized the ESC was blown (50A). Installed another ESC the next day & ran a few laps. On last lap boat flipped again, this time motor wasn't running. Got it out, switched it off and left it to dry. The next day the ESC was dead again. Any comments on what is causing this?

    Thanks!

Was your ESC submerged in water as well? What I mean is did it contact water directly?
Most ESCs are NOT water proof, they should not survive a thorough dunking. People sometimes put conformal epoxy or try other tricks to make it more water resistant, but when the Fets get wet, it shorts out and that's it. Motor usually will be ok, use CorrosionX on the motor and you would be fine. Seaking 180 ESC are supposed to be water resistant and yes, I was lucky once, but even that is not an 100% rate story, depending on how well the factory sealed the pastic case. Some people also spray that stuff on their ESCs and have been able to avoid total damage, but you need to spray it liberally and since I have no first hand experience, can't advice you any further.

I dunked my boat several times and every thing came good as new. what I did was first rinsed all the salt water off , then I opend everything up and shot the bull frog corrosion cleaner which is very similar to corrosion x. Once i got home I soaked all the electronics including the motor in a bucket of fresh water for about 20 minutes, then I tried to blow all the excess water out . once I got that all taken care I threw all the electronicks in a ziplock bag that is half way filled with rice and let it sit for 2 days.
2 days later I shook all the rice off plugged every thing back in and every thing runs perfect. 3 times I have been successful with that.
      I hope that helps..

Are you totally sure the esc is actually dead? Did you try to re arm it ? The other day I was doing a bench test. The boat is set up for two packs. I was testing just with one pack but forgot to put the rubber covers on the second set of plugs.Grazed two connectors together for a nano second Barely enough to make a spark. my esc shut down. I thought it was dead but I unhooked everything, connected back up and re armed. It is working fine. Might be worth trying.
