Newbie saying Hi and question about boat purchase

Just wanted to introduce myself. Im Peter from lake Tahoe. I still have my villian 4 from when I was 12 y/o and want to get back into the rc boating with a big boy toy this time. I came accross this website. Is it bogus?

    Thanks

Welcome aboard, Peter. OSE is a good place to ask questions and learn about this hobby.
Someone else recently asked a similar question...http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...1039-Hot-setup!!! Take
a look at propperchopper's post. There is a questionaire that might be helpful.
    Maybe we can help you.

I would steer clear of this ... not enough info, motor and ESC are to small. No pictures with hardware and none of the inside worries me.

Not sure about the site but trust me you do not want that boat you're looking at. It is a hull for a gas boat and the canopy looks absolutely ridiculous. It sticks up like a giant bubble. And those come with garbage motor and esc. Its about a 30mph boat. Here's a video when sold by G-freak Racing, which was an inexperienced couple of guys trying to sell boats. Short lived online shop. This vid will give you an idea of how hideous that boat really looks.

Same boat as hobbyking's "Hydro Maniac" but with electric setup.

Peter welcome aboard, I used to live in Reno - I've been to LT more times than I can remember, very very beautiful place to live - and ski in the winter.

About boats... http://www.ecshop360.com/Aqua-Mania-...at-p-1704.html - I don't know if they're "bogus", but they are in China = expense ship costs + about 3-weeks or more transit time.

Think you'll be hard pressed to find a much better deal than this one... http://www.ebay.com/itm/190818463130...84.m1497.l2649 (notice the free ship). That's an updated listing, originally he had 10 with 8 sold, and yes I bought one(same $$$), he's a straight shooter, shipped it within 24-hrs.

I suggested that boat to another member in this thread... http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ht=#post497862 - check out the reply

It's not a perfect boat, but it is a dam good one; not too many (if any) RTR boats are perfect. Here's a list of things you can do to it correct the factory deficiencies... http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...OAT-IMPULSE-31 - post #3 & 4.

Please Note: there's nothing wrong with the stock radio system (the receivers are highly sought after in the WTB section of the swap shop), I changed mine solely because of personal preference.

              Hope that helps you...

J.W. - I can't believe the price on that Impulse 31. Easy boat to convert to a 55mph vee.
