    Blueprinting a Cheetah hull?

    madmikepags,

and any other Pros on here.

I found this thread when searching for something like blueprinting a Cheetah hull.
Tiqueman tried a unique solution to a problem he was having on his Cheetah's. His cheetah twin would submarine often. He discovered that the last step om the hull has a slight downward slant in the step, acting like a mono with the trim tabs down. If I read it correctly, Tiqueman was able to confirm this design flaw with the hulls designers.

So, have anyone besides Tiqueman incorporated this Cheetah-last-step-hull-mod, or anything similar?

I have found that every cat hull I have had doesn't matter who made, I will do this on all of them, I take a black marker and make about 5 x's depends on how long the pad is from front to back then I take a flat sanding bar with 400 grit wet sand paper and sand untill all the black marks are gone to make sure they are flat all the way back I will be dong one a bit later today I will take a picture of it and post so you can see hope this helps may not be right but just the way I do it.

      Fas,
      I believe you misunderstand.
The thread ends up being about a hull geometry mod to correct a design flaw, not just correcting manufacturing defects.

Larry, I haven't experienced the stuffing event with mine. OTOH I fully respect Tiqueman's take on the issue and will say that his is rigged differently than mine and run in more severe conditions than mine has so far. I've yet to run in chop(or racewater for that matter) so the future may portend different results.

Until then, now that I've replaced the original esc, I'm just pleasure running the boat

I trued the rear ride pads on my cheetah like tiqueman's and it runs great. I used Marine-Tex and other than drying time, it was a breeze.
PS It took the 1/4 mile oval 2 lap record IMPBA record last weekend in P-Cat.

I know, I know....I did cut off the tips to be able to run in "P" The hullis now 33 15/16" long. I added a half oz of epoxy inside each tip then ground them down. BTW,I never ground thru the fiberglass. I also filled the front of the boat with 2 part foam to give it some more rigidity and weight forward. Previously, It blew over alot.

                  chipgibbs,
so would you say tiqueman's hull mod was an:
                  1. improvement,
                  2. big improvement,
                  3. vast improvement,
                  4. it changed my life,
Further, how do you now have the strut adjusted, and haw did you have it adjusted before the mod?

More thoughts on this. Interested in others think'n.

The Cheatah and the Sprint Cat are very similar on the bottom. With the Cheatah though, your thrust cone ends up further behind the ride pads due to the overhang. Wont this just give the lift of the prop more leverage to push the nose down? Feels like it would.

                        Thoughts?
