Strange things heard at the Pond yesterday.

We have 2 courses. 1/6th for the fuel classes and a short course (1/8th) for our electric classes. I asked why? The electrics putt around too much and they have trouble finishing. ***I FEEL LIKE I WENT BACK 20 YEARS IN TIME*** These guys had no idea that the rules for electric and fuel are the same. I said I tune my boats for 8 laps. If you are not making it prop down or balance your boat. I am actually angry about it. These guys have all kinds of questions about FE but do they ask the guy who has been doing it for 25 years? No they rely on hearsay and misinformation from the web.

I WANT TO SCREAM. Every boat I own can finish a 1 mile race with energy to spare. They were shocked when I told them about the Offshore Classes.

If they don't know, the don't know. My district didnt know squat about FE when I first started running. I endured the barage of ignorant questions for a year or two. And by ignorant I don't mean anything offensive. They just didn't know because they havent been exposed it. I didnt know anything about nitro or gas boats when I first started racing.

So be thankfull they are open minded and edumacate them!!

I never considered anything else.
Putting a tweaked out air breather in a water craft prone to flip over and possabilly destroying your engine seems like a bad idea, unless your goal is just to smoke money.
I know, FE is not that old, but perhaps that is part of why RC boating was not that popular.

These guys aren't that new to it. I and a few other guys have been around for 5 years already. NIce bunch of guys but not real racers. They like to play mostly but sometimes race.
I only go to their club occasionally. I am still climbing that hill and telling them that we actually have a rule set. They show up with some pretty boats but have no Idea about props and amp draw. I keep telling them that the batts are the gas tank. Just like a car or boat the faster you go the more fuel you use. (amps). Prop down I keep telling them. Why they reply this thing flies? (POOF) Why did that happen? So when your wife or teenage daughter uses the Flat Iron and then cranks on the Hair dryer what happens? (Poof goes the breaker).
So when you stick on a big prop Poof goes the Motor or the ESC! (Why)? I paid good money for that Turnigy 180. Why doesn't it have a safety? You paid good money just not a lot of money. (What)? Just because it was $100 bucks does not relate to how good it is? *****AND ROUND AND ROUND WE GO!***** I get tired sometimes...

Where do these guys even find hearsay that indicates FE can't finish a 1/6th mile sprint? I get ignorance but I don't know where you would find the misinformation these days.

I agree with chilli. With his encouragement I joined the local club and ran against nitro boats as I was the first and only one running FE. The club president and the rest of the members were a great help in getting me started and I did ok for my first year of racing.
