We're jacking this thread but I burned a couple of hydros into the bank at the 2010 nats in CO that still aren't fixed. One was carbon with a foam core afterplan. They're killed. Should have had a funeral. I mourned their loss.

    Back on track.

The Insane will be the quickest to get on the water and performance is right there. Lot's of resources to tap for getting it set up right too. I still haven't seen one as fast as a Stealth......yet. Newland has one that's stupid fast. We'll have get him to MI to see how he measures up. haha

The Thomas runs really well with little tweaking but you have to fill the surface and paint it. I wont tell you this is a fun process. I've painted a couple of them now and cuss'd them both. One of which I just finished last week......yep......cuss'd it. Need to get some picture up somewhere. Came out okay.

The Whips are really easy builds as far as wood kits go. They do require a little forethought as they really weren't purpose designed for FE. You have to do a little work on the interior to get everything in the boat where you want it. They also have that "look what I built" quality that's impossible to put a value on.

Any of the three boats mentioned are pretty sweet rides. You wont be sorry with any of them so get the one that appeals to you.

Newland [FE30] and Kewley [Whip] at WWIX P-Ltd heat

      Tyler [Stealth] , Kewley [Whip] , Ted[FE30] P-Ltd heat

Bigger P-Sport motors, blinding sun, Tyler goes , Sean's Whip narrowly escapes

I believe those guys ran the same two boats at the 2010 Nats. Sean got em that time. Pretty even matchup.

We had a heat yesterday that was all Stealths. A whole heat of them. There's video. Just hasn't come off the camera yet. I think I might have said something on the video about it being Limited Phil Hydro.

Oh No! There is a vid of that! How embarassing. My boat was cavitating for 2 laps! Ugh! (would love to see it though!)

I will try and get it converted soon... and yes, your comment made me chuckle.

            Later,

Pete, the one we have on video with your boat was the first race you ran yesterday morning (second heat of P-Limited Sport Hydro). You and I both jumped the start. I don't recall it cavitating in that one.

I'm such a dope. Just realized it was James asking. No wonder he doesn't want to go Stealth. How many Stealths is enough?

James, next race I'll bring my old Whip out so you can see how crazy you can go with one. You might also approach Tom as I know he has an FE30 he doesn't care for. Nothing wrong with it. It just doesn't light up his inner sport hydro junky side.

Tony, you'll never get an FE30 to look this cool:

Apparently I'm on an FE30 bashing tangent. Don't mean too. Just ribb'n Tony a bit.

No FE30 looks like this either:

Oh, good! Come to think of it, I think the cavitating heat was the heat I won! Not sure how!

If I had the time, I'd pluck mine, Sean's and Tyler's fastest lap times from the 2 vid's Tony posted. I bet they'd be within .2 seconds of each other. All three hulls are extremely capable and it's great to have multiple suppliers providing top contending hull designs.

But, Sean was without his best prop...and that damn National Title has gone to the whips for at least the last 3 years. I'm sure more.

I will say that I'm starting my 4th season with my FE 30. It has a few scars, but still extremely race-able. I just got back from a district race in Tucson and my boat is now on it's way to El Paso for the Autism Benefit race there in 2 weeks to be driven by JC Greenlee. I've only lost 1 motor during that time. So far in 2013 I've been in 13 P-Ltd heats. Finished all, and grabbed 1st in 11 of them. Needless to say the performance and the return on my investment with that setup is fantastic.

I have some unfinished business for that Kewley dude and Mr. Peterson... I would love to do some racing with the fast guys out west. I know, I know Newland; I will try and get out there next February

BTW - Regarding durability, THIS happened last year at practice. She's a little thin on the sides. I was back on the water 30minutes later with a little tape though!
