    Help choosing motor mount.

Hi, new member here. New to electric boating. I used to race gasoline boats a few years back. Got into airplanes and helicopters, and have gone pretty much all electric on those except for a couple. Decided to build an electric boat to run at the pond where we fly. Ordered the Whiplash Sport 20 from Blazer Marine. Looking at running a sport setup with the UL-1 motor and ESC. Started looking at the motor mounts on OSE and am lost as to which one(s) will work best in this setup. Any suggestions?

Not sure how much room you have in there but I use etti mounts these days. They're super adjustable and can accommodate a large number of different motors. I like this because sometimes I like to swap motors and try new things

Just finishing up the exact same build, I like these mounts personally, used them a couple times now.

The side plates are longer than the 13$ mount, more contact area for glueing.
Don't need the rear support with these short can motors.
I don't think the water cooled mounts do much of anything, have one in a cat, my data logger shows almost no difference in temperature with or without water flowing through the mount. Might do something if I installed a 3rd water pickup! I had the water going through the water jacket then into the mount, probably too warm to make much cooling difference at that point.
Just read the above post, I don't have or plan on using the Blazer cowling, I don't think it will be a problem, I'm not 100% sure though!
I'm running my battery right in the nose.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Thanks. That one looks pretty versatile. Waiting for the kit to arrive so I can see what kind of room I'll be working with.

Agree. These are great mounts, Cheap, adjustable(love that) and great for smaller motor set ups. I am even used one with a Neu1515 (with some grinding of the mount holes) and it worked fine.

I have the same mount that siberianhusky recommends in my P-Limited Offshore boat. It's a nice mount. For my P-Limited Sport Hydro Whiplash, I made a wood mount. If you wish I will take some pictures of it.

Yes, please take a picture if you don't mind.

Also, what size flex shaft should I be running on this size boat?

                Brad,

Here are a couple pictures of the Whiplash.

                I used .150" flex cable.

Thanks for the pictures. That is always an option too. I think I'm going to try the etti mount first and if there are problems with fit I can make my own.

Do you mean the 1520? The 1515 should fit without mods

No, it was a 1515. I think some of the older 1515's may have had some slightly different screw patterns. I seem to recall some conversations about that.

Never mind on the shaft question. Realized the hardware I got from Blazer is for .187 shaft so I ordered all of the .187 driveline hardware.

Just placed an order on OSE for everything else I needed except the ESC, cooling shroud and prop. Want to get a little beefier ESC so I can experiment with other power setups down the road. Would prefer an ESC with data logging. Should at least have everything ordered now that I need to get the boat built and painted.
