If you are thinking of spending that much money then consider getting this:
      http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...zip-jae21fe-90

This is a very well known boat and has been very sucessfull in racing. You can get lot's of people on here that can help you with it, and there is very minimal setup if you buy one built. I had one of these and it handled like nothing you have ever seen. Just hold the trigger down and turn and it goes full speed through a turn and kicks up an amazing rooster tail. Incredible boat.

I agree, and with AQ 2030/1800 and ABC H7 its a 60mph boat.

The zip-21 is expensive for what you get. No motor- servo- esc-mount. Second thing is water conditions for rigger have to be fairly smooth. Best is a 31" mono from offshore equiped with a UL-1 motor-120 amp esc ( waterproof )-2- 3000 maH 40c lipos in saddle pack setup in parallel-440/3 prop will give good speed and longivity. The size of pond or lake should enter size of boat too. These are suggestions i would use, but that is me and best bang for the buck. This is a sport setup. Oh yes forgot, tape for taping down the hatch, real important.

Wow that messed up "logic" a JAE kit is 90$ a bare DF29 hull is 99$ both require every piece of hardware to be purchased!
JAE is a heat racing boat, it runs very well in the wakes from other boats, you do not need glass smooth water conditions at all, LOL you NEVER see that after the first lap is done!
The 90% assembled JAE come with everything but motor and electronics, not a bad price for a hand assembled high quality race hull built in the states with all the hardware.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

...and given the boat he is consdering buying is approaching $600, he could buy the 90 percent built JAE for $429, and all he lacks is a motor, esc, radio, servo and prop. He could spray paint it a color or just clear coat it and go for about the same price( a bit less) with a proven boat. I also noticed the boat he was looking at does not appear to have a turn fin which he would need.

Did you notice they are recommending a 6S battery with a 2200kv motor? Wow.. that is 48,800rpm!! Not so great for a oval racer...not even sure if the motor would survive.

I feel your pain. I have slowly, but surely, started to build boats or partially build them, just because I am not able to get what I want any other way. I would suggest you go the route I did for a long time. Go to the Want To Buy section and spell out exactly what you are looking for and you might just find a deal on a used one that is mostly built and ready to go. It would be great if somone would sell a RTR rigger with that level of speed.

Don't want to build it ..... I'm sure you could find someone on this site to build it for you! Ask and have a $ value you have in mind! There are some really good builders on here!Coming up boating season so don't wait to inquire as most of the good builders race their boats!
We did it with a Bang!

                      +1 on that.

These boats are fair at best. I have the 30-31" rigger and it's crap. It's sitting in a box because it was so poorly constructed with the WORST CA glue ever. I started to add MAS epoxy and said forgetaboutit. Maybe one day I'll drag it out and get it going but, it's crap. Every Fiberglass boat they sell is flimsy. They make that POD RACER from HK too and it's floppy soft fiberglass.

                      RUN AWAY, Be afraid!!!!!!

The Jae21 prebuilt is way way better constructed.
