    What causing this to happen

When my impulse flips over it wants to keep running then stops then starts again, hard to catch with a fishing pole when it won't stop for awhile.
    leo 3674 2200. t180 on 4s.
not a drop of water in it.
no hands on the tx and even turned the trim down.
    any clues?

do you think water is getting in the antenna hole? I have had boats flip over and get funny because water made its way into the plastic antenna rod.

      Failsafe lose it's setting?
Sounds like the rx is losing bind then picking it up again, may be the antennae is going below water lever the floating up enough to rebind.
My SV did something very similar, first electric, didn't know about the esc failsafe programming when I installed my Spektrum. fFipped, went to full throttle and stayed there until I got out there and picked it out of the water. Radio was on shore. As soon as the rx picked up signal it shut itself down.
One antennae was taped under the deck, the other up a tube through the deck. 99% sure both were below water level when this happened to me.
I set up the failsafe and no more run away motors.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Rebind the rx while the throttle is in the off position and everything plugged in. The rx is actually what holds the info. Make sure the end points and direction are correct then rebind. Not 100% positive if the esc has to be plugged in, might also work with a rx battery pack, never tried using one for power on a electric surface vehicle. Everything I run is 4s using the built in BEC.

Yeah, it sounds like failsafe is set to throttle on-- if the antenna is below the waterline it can lose the signal.

                i agree
had the same problem with a hobbking system where the failsafe was set to full throttle from the factory

Or...............There is a loss of signal when the antenna is now faceing down in the water. This is most probable I would think. The reason it turns on and off is the sparatic signal it is getting and so she just does what it wants. Fail safe works when signal is "Lost" from what I understand, not sparatic.

By most replies it does seem to be the fail safe setting, as soon as I get off work I'll reset it and we'll know the next time it flips, hopefully it wont but I;m sure it will sooner or later.
                    Thanks for all your suggestions.

You can also check by turning off you tx

Ok, so I rebound the rx and reset the fail safe and it seems to be ok now, only rolled it once and the motor did not take off, righted the boat and it worked fine.
                        thanks all for your input.

G-unit, can you tell me the exact steps you took to remedy this? I have a thread going at http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...light=Failsafe with the same problem.

I've rebound the TX and yet when I power up the RX, the motor runs. I did have water in the antenna tube but radio box was dry after a flip. This is on a Blackjack29 with stock TX/RX and Hobbywing T180a ESC. Have not done the throttle calibration yet but wanted to see what steps you took.

Guys... if you are using the Spektrum radio gear, then once you get the boat all setup and perform all the calibration steps necessary to set throttle ranges, etc., then you should REBIND your TX to the RX. Once you do this, it will reset all of the failsafes to your NEW neutral points.

Yes, I just rebound the system without holding the throttle or steering control, all neutral positions.
