Ok, got my BJ29 connected with a SK180 and Neu 1550. Went with 5.5 bullets from esc - motor and EC5s on batterys side. I plugged everything in heard 4 beeps (Im on 4s2p), I turned rudder and tapped throttle..everything seemed to work fine....ended there. Anyway my question is do I need to program the ESC before running? I dont want to hurt anything. I did read instructions and noticed all default settings seemed acceptable , well except the timing which I know absolutely nothing about..thanks for any advice.

Would help if you know whether your motor is "Y" or "D" wind. SK180 is set at 15* timimg ( factory default setting , provided it is set correctly at factory and no one has altered since then) , good for a "Y" wind, "D" likes lower.
You need to calibrate your ESC with your transmitter, but if you have already done so, there is no need to program it, you need to be careful first time running the boat, bring her in after one minute and check temp.Too many boats, not enough time... -

Programing the throttle range is what I meant by calibrating the ESC with your tx.
Binding refers to linking the rx and tx in a 2.4Ghz system. it does not involve the ESC.Too many boats, not enough time...Comment
