An update to the thread: Last weekend I raced the R-42 in one stage of the 2013 Gas World Championship Series. Running in Open Cat against 30cc engines I was lucky enough to make the Shootout round and ended up placing 3rd overall in the class. Competing against over 20 of the top gas cat drivers was a hoot. I wasn't the fastest boat out there, but I didn't make any mistakes, drove clean and smart and yes, I did enjoy a bit of luck too. My pit crew from the HOTMBC were instrumental in my success. I really enjoyed driving the R-42 in competition.

And you did a hell of a job Jay, congrats! You had the boat set up perfect. I would never have thought running an X457 would keep up with the 30cc gas boats.

Thanks Oscar. It was too bad you didn't run yours but once you get the 'offshore' hatch we'll see how it goes.

BTW I do have a much faster prop......
