    extending wires on ESC,...

After receiving the SK180 and went to mount it in the boat I noticed the battery side wiring is much shorter than the stock dynamite ESC on my BJ29. I need to get the COG right and the shortened length of wire does not let me do this....I cant slid my lipos forward where the want to be. I have two options I guess...extend battery wires or ESC battery wires. ....which is better to do? I heard either can cause problems....True??? I only need about 3.5-4 inches of extension.

    Thanks for any help....

Aren't you putting a castle motor in there?

I've extended the three wires on the motor side of the ESC in several applications including a high amp set up without any problems. I would try to avoid extending battery side wires. Increased chance of ripple current which means possible blown caps and fried ESC.

Like to tag along on this thread because my PSpec JAE, I had to extend the motor wires, and on my last race two wires soldered loose

Hmmm. I've run the extended esc/motor wires (about 3 or 4 inches) on a P-Lim JAE for three years with no problems. I did use a heavier gauge wire to keep resistance down. My other set up was a oval trials JAE with a wide tube and a 1521. I data logged amp draw in the upper 200's with a Castly Ice on that set up.

I had long leads on an ESC on m OPC tunnel, and my caps were fried. Per Fluid's advice, I shortened the ESC to Battery leads and that fixed my problem...

things went fine on the first two races then on the last lap two wires kinda came loose...
I did have some amp issues as I found the rigger not exactly square on the sponsons
(had a slight twist in it, and cause the boat to pull to the right real bad)

In my Motley Crew I extended the three motor side wires on my T180 ESC and it has been running without problems.
While you have the soldering iron out, I suggest installing 5.5mm plugs on the motor cables.

I'm still trying to figure out how there is a 4 inch gap between esc and battery wires. It's a relatively small boat

I also had to extend the ESC wires on the MOTOR side of the ESC for an OPC tunnel, and no problems. It is better than extending the ESC leads on the Battery side.
