Did you buy them at the same place at the same time?

What did you run the used one on? 4S, 6S?? What boat and did you get it hot?

You can try it. Take a 1 minute run and check temps, and battery voltage. If the old one takes more amps it may have issues and you may need a new motor.

My mate has a twin apparition running twin leopards, he had one motor blow so he replaced it with a new one. You could see the difference as to which side the new motor was on, it was lifting out of the water alot better and producing more torque as he has to use alot of steering to keep it in a straight line. Once he replaced the old motor so he had 2 newies it ran alot better with a 6kph speed increase on the GPS ( 85kph with 1new/1old, 91kph 2new)

What kind of speed controls are you using. Are they programmed the same way?

I agree with everything that is being said from the above posts.
Just so you know that I have several Leopard 4082-2200kv motors and all bought new, but not from the same place. They spin totally differently : the ones with the "Red" motor cans spin more freely like that of a Neu motor, the "Gold" motor you can barely turn by hand, more like the Proboat motors.
When you say resistance, do you mean you feel more cogging?
