    Bending Stuffing Tube - Stainless or Brass?

    Hi Folks;
    I am near the end of my @build@ of a K&B 3.5 outboard leg conversion to electric. Everything I read tells me to ditch the teflon stuffing tube and use metal. I am wondering if I should use brass or stainless steel tubing? The cost difference is negligible. Is stainless easier to bend? Is there any other reason I should use one over the other?

    Thanks,
    Graham Humphrey

    No need for Stainless. It can be brittle too. Brass is what everyone uses.

      Hey Graham. Brass is easier to work with and will be plenty durable.

      I read on the gas board that a race pond was lost in Ontario. Do you know anything about it??

        Brass is also used in bushings and sleeves, where there are dissimilar metals rubbing together. It "gives", and in the bushing case, self lubricates. I bet the brass stuffing tube would provide a smoother drivetrain than stainless, but I am just speculating...

          Hi Chilli
          I've only heard rumblings about London losing it's pond, but then I also heard they may have a new one?? Anyway I am not the expert on that so you'd better ask Mike Hallam or someone from Thames Valley Model Boat Club.
