    Flex cable ?????

Ok i finally got to run my DF33 the other day and just barley got to get it going till the flex shaft fell out and went to the bottom my question is i did not solder the cable and i did have the coupler tight but it still came out is there something else i can or need to do to make it grip the flex better?

    MAMBA,

It slipped off the collet? So you lost the whole flex and prop? You either did not have it tight enough....or wrong size collet for flex cable....

What sizes do you have for each? Which type collet?

I have had to relieve the slots in a couple of my collets so they would tighten down.Should be in my "Little Twin G" Thread buddy.

You need to lubricate the threads and bearing surfaces of any collet to get the maximum grip. Otherwise too much wrench force is wasted overcoming internal friction within the collet. Use Neverseeze or a similar thread product. Then you won't need to tighten the collet so much yet still will have maximum grip.

Some use this between the stufing tube and the collet.http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXD835&P=7
Also a trick I learned here from Fluid is to use anti seizing compound for the threads of the collet, it will allow you to smoothly tighten the collet without galling. Any auto store sells them.

I usually solder the end I know you said you haven't done this but it definitely makes a difference and eliminates any slip problems.
