HK Genesis Twin Hull Build ?'s

Hi everyone my name is Spencer i'm new to the forums here.

I just ordered a HobbyKing Genesis twin hull cat (40in.) with a 36-74Size 2075kv Watercooled Brushless Inrunner motor.
It has no esc, servo, or reciever. It weighs 2.5Kg.

I'm going to use the servo and reciever off of my wrecked Miss Geico.

I plan on running 6s and i would like to know what ESC use, what props to run, and some recommended batteries for this setup!

I'm new to Rc Boats so i am open to any and all suggestions and tips, also recommended motors for this boat as well because i'd like to eventually upgrade.

If you run 6s on that motor you will burn things up, its a cheapo FSD motor so stick with 4s.

      OK.

So i'll start looking for more motor options because i really want to run 6s. Any recommended leopard motors for this hull?

ESC run the turnigy seaking 180 found on hobbyking site, you can get it for 80 bucks on there and that is a great deal. People have run the leopard 4082 1600kv motors with m445 props with great results. A lot of people have built this boat and there is an abundance of info to be found on this site and others. If you do a search you'll find a ton. You can run a 3674 leopard but the 4082 will spin props more easily and if you're running a seaking 180 might as well run a nice beefy motor as well. Batteries go with gens ace packs if you can afford. If not go with sky lipo. If you're in the middle of a hobbyking order I would go with zippy packs, you could run 2 3s packs in series or 2 6s packs in parallel. I would probably run something to the tune of 8000 mah 40c, so that would be two 6s packs in parallel each at 40C. So zippy 40c 6s 4000mah packs will do. I am reccommending a slightly heavier setup with more battery and motor than some will but this will just give you more options in the future and the components will last a bit longer. I need to get to building my genesis boat, stay away from outrunners its difficult to cool them properly.

Yeah considering that I just got my tax returns I have a budget of about $400-$500 that I can put into the boat. I was going to buy an Sc8.2e Short Course truck but I changed my mind because I really want to get more into the RC Boat world this Spring/Summer. I had a blast with it last summer but made some rookie mistakes with my Miss Geico haha!

I plan on having this as my dialed good/perfect conditions only boat so I want to go all out on her! I plan on getting a V bottom soon for bashing conditions.

@iridebikes247 Yeah I think after the research I've done, I'm going with the leo 4082. I'm also going to check the Seaking 180! Thanks for all of your suggestions, that was very helpful. I'll start shopping batteries tonight too!

Do you know of a good place to get the octura m445 already sharpened and balanced?

And is there anything I should consider strengthening on the boat itself?

For some reason I was thinking it was a twin lol. Yeah the 4082 is a good choice, although I would probably upgrade the drive system to handle the power. Just me tho

Ok, is this a twin motor build? I'm confused, the title says twin, but you got a single drive boat?

Well probably a .187 cable to start, but I think that means tearing out the stuffing tube for a new one and putting in a new strut/ rudder setup. Not 100% sure on that

No this isn't a twin motor build. They just label this catamaran as a "twin hull" for some reason.

To upgrade to 3/16" OSE has an uprade strut for the Genesis ( ose80975 ) for $14.95 & 0nly 1 left in stock, use this which is a simple bolt on job & remove the teflon liner in the stuffing tube. 3/16" shaft slides straight in, not forgetting you need a 5mm x .187" coupling.

                              Hi

Following the suggestions for lipo's, you could try a pair of these wired in series for 6s. Being seperate sets of cells may help you with balancing a twin hulled boat, one in each sponson
