What do you want to do with the boat? How large a pond do you run on? Are there other R/C boaters in your area? What types of boats appeal to you? Do you have any other R/C experience?

Give us a little more information and we can be of more help. Welcome aboard! :D

      same

These are my preferences: Cat, fiberglass, 32-38", 13XL-14XL, direct drive, FM. Everyones is a little different. Thats what makes this an interesting hobby. Finding your own.

My prefrencees are the same as Reddy's with only one diffrence. I prefer DSS to FM. Not hainvg any backround on what you have, where you run or if you run with buddies or alone..I sugest a SuperVee for a first FE boat. If you decide this isent for you..the resale is good. You will recover @ least 80% of the investment.

hmm.....sport boat, little RC experience, decent size ponds, 2 or 3 of us chase each other around with minimal crashes and I like an original sounding boat. My Caribbean Cruiser 2 sounds cool on plane and the SW26 sings on 7 cells. Now a 38" fiberglass cat with a 14XL and FM ??? ouch! You're talking serious cash. Although I do like the H&M Maritmo 36" cat. The things with the cats are you have to worry about 2 hulls instead of 1 and that flex drive tube hanging down in the middle....deep vee with direct drive seems the simplest, strongest and least expensive. BTW 20-25mph seems fast to me........especially after 2 runaway incidents that ended up on shore out of range.

The 14XL boat I mentioned cost me $800, but you can build a brushless for about $450 from scratch using budget parts.

Buy a SuperVee and a 42mm carbon fiber prop right here fome OSE. 28mph and the 42mm prop will run stable. Buy an entry level FM and your run away problems will be a thing of the past. You will be more than happy.

Thank you for the help guys.....I do like the Supervee but like everyone else I want something original....and $450.00 sounds reasonable for brushless. Any hints? or am I on my own? I guess the supervee set-up for $159.00, an FM for $75.00, and a Syncron with flood chamber and hardware for $450.00.....hmm sounds like $700-$800.

RW.....thanks for the info.....the titan 29 hull sounds like a good choice.....not too much for a beginner to build a boat?

Im a little bit ahead of you, and as everyone will tell you everyone has their own preferences. I used a cheap 36" deep v and as soon as I opened the box I ripped everything out of it and started desiging. These guys on here have awesome boats inside and out. Mine probly wont look that good but I like working with the plastic and love the hull I have chosen. About 3 weeks ill tell everyone how it turned out!! but for the money I now have about 300 in it and just need one more motor and esc's.
