    Jim, not sure if this is addressed to me, all my shafts line up well, I just think that the set screws on the drive dog or the collet do contribute a bit ---however small the amount may be, and can be negligible as no one has yet taken this into consideration. An obvious sign is that this in no way hampers the normal operation of the boat.
    BTW, to the OP, I am not saying you run your boat WOT out of water, I am just using this thread to further my thoughts which originated from the other thread.

            I have seen many drive dogs and even collets be out making my perfectly balanced prop go crazy. So now I always check the entire driveline

                Didn't Andy Kunz do this with a strobe light? I know he did some balancing using a strobe but, I can't find that paper somewhere.
