I'm building a retreval craft that is going to be very light weight. I would like to go with a brushed system in it, like a crawler motor setup. I suppose I could use a brushless system too. I want torque not speed but I dont want the system to fry either since it probably wont be watercooled, just aircooled. Any suggestions would be helpful in my purchase for a good combo. Thanks in advance!

Use a 55 turn motor.There is no replacement for displacement, I guess I just have to Buzz it higher!

The easiest and cheapest route is to use an outrunner. The club has a retrieval craft using an HK 4240 outrunner with a Kv around 800. On 2S it spins a 55mm prop easily with low amp draw and moves the craft very well. No need for gears, just more to break.
