    29" Hydro...What do I have here?

I picked this Hydro up from a guy who didn't know much about it other than his Dad built it. It's 29'' in length and I'm curious if this was a kit or a scratch build. I really don't have a use for it, and know very little about these hulls. I just thought it was cool and in good shape for it's age....although I don't know how old it is either...
Any info on this would be appreciated.

Looks like it's built from the old Dave Frank plans for the Oboy Oberto. I have one very similar at the house.

It was a great design in the Nicd days. Flies a bit too light on it's feet for LiPo power. Could be a fun boat on a Nimh setup.

Flys too high? So you are saying Terry that you use this designe in every one of your boats?

Jeff, ya tool. How ya been? Coming to MI in June with the rest of the cheese heads?

My junk tends to run too flat these days.

I think some of the design elements from the Oberto found their way into the Aquacraft UL1. Just a hunch on my part though. Someone might know on here.

It was a good design for the times. Could run 2s in this hull. Might work out just right. Maybe a Lehner Basic 4200XL or 3700XL. That could be a sweet runner like that.

Jims 2P idea might make it work too. Just keep adding weight until it stays put.

Thats an interesting idea! I happen to have a basic 4200kv xl that has been looking for a home for about a year, might take a look at some of those old free online plans for a fun project, I do have the Oberto plans somewhere on the computer.....
Have to look through the junk hardware box and see what I can come up with, just might be able to pull off a project like that for next to no cash outlay.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Somewhere I have a 5000XL I used to use for N2 Sport. Just thought this might be too big for a small..ish prop. Could even shave it down a touch to get under the 27" mark. If you have the plans on puter it's pretty doable.
