I have a HW 120 that when plugged in it beeps twice then very short pause and beeps twice again. I can go into the program mode and change the settings but once I exit program mode it goes back to the same tone message. The user manual says it's a voltage error but I've tried different batteries, and checked the charge. I've reset the ESC to auto calc and to 4S still does the same thing. I've hooked up a different 120 with all the same components ie batteries motor radio and it works fine. Any suggestions?

Solution I used...
Connect the program box and power it (+ ESC) with one of those nitro battery packs (see attached) I set the ESC for forward & reverse. Disconnect from PB & battery pack and re-connect to your system, train the Tx per the instructions; repeat above procedure to return the ESC to forward only.
If you lost the instructions, you can get them here... http://www.hobbywing.com/product_show.asp?id=220
Hope that helps you out.Last edited by Billy Barnacle; 02-25-2013, 03:11 AM. -
Hey,
What tx are you using and is it gun or stick type ?Comment

I reset the throttle positions while in the forward and reverse mode. Still no good. I dont have the PB i just programmed it with the TX. I was told this ESC was tested and worked guess I got burned.Comment

Ok, try this.
On a tx gun first turn it off, Then get a big tie rap or bread tie.
Pull the throttle in on the tx and put the tie on it to hold the trigger in.
Now turn on the tx and hook a 2s pack to the esc and after 2 seconds it should beep beep,
Now release the trigger right away and it will beep once and you are done and unplug the 2s pack and turn off the tx,
Now turn on tx and plug in the 2s pack and start programing it.
That is what I do.Comment

Yes I realize that HW (Seaking) ESC's only have 4 items that can be set, but I have HW ESC's in my Rusty, Stampede and new Raptor. The first 2 are eZ-Run's that have 10-items with up to 9 parameters per item to set, the Raptor has the SCT-10 model with 12 items. Do all that without a PB, are you kidding me??
That said, do you know anybody that has a PB they'll loan you?? Or you can goto their house and test your setup... If no, PB's only cost $5 ~ $7 (I paid $15, but the prices have come way down), until you eliminate that as a potential source of the problem I don't think it's fair to say that you got burned on the Tx purchase. FYI: Traxxas XL-5 ESC's also have to be trained for / to the Tx on first use.
One last thing... my SK 35A will not work correctly unless I reverse the yellow & orange ESC to motor wires. Check attached pic to see what I'm talking about. Until I did that, that boat ran slower than a sick tug boat. I've used that ESC in another boat with a different motor and had the exact same issue.
My SK-60A unit doesn't have that problem, only the 35AAnother one of those I don't get it deals, I just get results, only thing I care about

Billy barnacle,
I never said the ESC wouldn't communicate. My first post states that I can program with the controller. The 120 only has 4 paramaters F/R, Autocalc/precalc, LVC & Timing. Its very easy to program with the TX and can be much faster than unpluging all the wires and hooking up batteries etc. My original post says I was getting a voltage error code. I turned the LVC off and it works fine. LVC is badComment

That applies to all the Seaking ESC's.
...can be much faster than unpluging all the wires and hooking up batteries etc...
The ONLY time I have needed to use external power was for the intial first time setup. After that, I rarely have to make any changes, like you said, not much to change.
If I do need to make a change, only have to unplug the ESC's signal wire from the Rx and plug it into the PB, the boat / trucks battery supply's the needed power to the PB. I've got so used to using the PB cuz of my trucks that it's easier & faster for me. Different strokes for different folks, it's all good.
Sorry for any confusion I caused & I'm happy to hear you got things worked out.
