    BEC damage how?

I am running a FE boat powered by 4S lipo (14.8v). I have taken the lead from the Park BEC (5v model) and soldered to the battery input leads to the ESC (CC Barracuda 80amp). I has run fine for about ten runs, but today I put a larger prop on it (SV27 motor, 45mm cf prop), and after about 4min run time, the rx started to act strange, and the boat shut down. I managed to get it into the shore, and after examination, the motor was very hot (160'), but batts and ESC were fine at 100'f. Now seeing the temps on the motor, the prop was to big for this setup (the 40mm cf ran fine at about 120'f on the motor), and the max amp draw was 65 amps.

Now after looking in the boat, I found the BEC was burnt smelling, and one of the two silver round parts on the board (47 VFK 4V9) was leaking brown fluid.

So my question is, is this the wrong application for this type of BEC, or was this one perhaps faulty, and I should just go ahead and order another one?
