ok i have tried to solder the end of a cable that i got from kintec its a .187 cable and i have tried every kind of solder and heat and the solder just rolls off what am i doing wrong
Im Only Responsible For What I Say Not For What You Understand
I wire brush the area to be soldered for minutes on end. I then clean the cable AND the inside of the stub shaft with break cleaner and let dry for a few minutes. I then add flux paste, assemble, tear apart and more flux as needed. Pull apart again, cut small piece of solder and stick in shaft. Assemble, heat and push on flex until solder melts and bond is made.

Egneg is right, and once you've gotten it too hot, it's hard to get the solder to take even after its cooled off and reheated. Try sanding it well with 80 grit, then clean in thinner. Then flux and small amounts of heat at a time testing with solder until it starts to take
I've been running nitro and electrics for 20 years and have never soldered the coupler end of a flex cable and have never had one break on me in that location. Don't waste your time- just grind a slight taper for ease of insertion and forget about it.
