The first problem is the motor - it is tiny and has a pretty high Kv for 3S. Second, the prop is too big for the motor. Third, the ESC is really too weak for a boat application.

Okay, what can you do with what you have? The easiest is to get a much smaller prop. A prop with a diameter between 32mm and 38mm is best for your motor. This may allow you to get the boat running, but the motor and ESC are still too small for a boat that size. Assuming you want to stay with 3S power, I will recommend parts which you can get here on OSE.

The 2290 Kv version of this motor:

    This controller:

    One of these propellers:

You can get cheaper products elsewhere, but I don't recommend them. Others will respond with their suggestions.

The prop is too big for that motor, that motor is too small for the boat and the esc doesn't have enough capacity.
What is the capacity and C rating of your battery?
You'd be better off buying a used Aquacraft or Proboat 1800kv motor/esc and buying a pair of 2s 5000mah batteries at least 40C if you're going budget batteries.
All my boats are in the size range of yours including a couple of cats. Your setup is just not up to the task. More applicable to a boat roughly half the size of what you currently have.
I just checked a couple of data logs from my Motley Crew, it pulls over 1100 watts at times, same size boat, m445 prop (45mm), that's just about 3x what your motor is rated for.
Or follow Fluid, he posted while I was typing, he knows his stuff!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

45mm is a BIG prop! Go down on prop and up on ESC and motor as Fluid suggested. I would also ditch the 3S and either go 4S or even 5S dpending on the motor's kv. Multiply the kv with the batt volts and try to get in the 30k range...

With the 2290kv Leopard motor you will get just over 33k rpm theoretical from a 4S setup which would be more than enough for you. Low kv + high volts = low temps, high kv + low volts = high temps and danger of blowing stuff up.
I would've gone for the bit longer http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...74&cat=148 2200kv motor and 4S setup, but that's just my 2cents... I have huge amounts of respect for Fluid's replies on these matters.

I suggest if you do invest in a motor that you try to stick with "Y" wind motors. They are easier on speed controls.
