    Lehner Motor Question

    Hello,
I have a Lehner 1950 11 turn 1140kv motor and was wondering whats the max voltage lipo I should use with this motor or whats the ideal rpm range I should be at with this motor?

    Thanks Joshua

This is not a large format motor, it is similar in size to a Neu 1515 and of very high qualilty. For sport use I'd not use more than 7S in a boat under 34". For SAW type running then 9S is probably tops. However, the earlier Lehners were limited in amp draw due to the method used to connect the motor wires - too many amps and the connectors came unsoldered from the motor endbell - see the photo below. The high-amp versions got around this problem by using extensions of the actual windings coming out the endbell, just like many Neus and Leopards.

That motor would make a great 6S or 8S sport motor. Keep in mind that the kv of a Lehner is under load, so for 6S you are looking at 24k RPM loaded and 8S around 32k RPM loaded. Use small props and let em spin.
