    41" carbon kevlar/fiber catamaran opinions

Hey guys I am just trying to find out if anyone has had an experience with or knows anything about the carbon Kevlar/fiber catamaran on www.horracing.com? I am looking into it for a build and need a little more info about it, also the same for the carbon Kevlar/fiber v hull they have and if anyone on here can install all components for me on the v hull and how much?

I sell the 41" cats in CF and FG/Kevlar layups. I have more experience with this hull than anyone...what would you like to know about it?

I was just wandering the quality of the hull? And tell me if this would work, two leopard 4092 2080kv, two swordfish 300a esc's, and 6S on each side? If so what props? I should be ordering within the week.

Your motors are big but this isn' t important. 2080kV on 6S will give high RPM : 46200 RPM !!
1500kV / 1800kV is the good range. You should better use 5S batteries with those motors

I won't be doing any racing. I just want one to hit top speeds with like a drag cat, now I don't understand why the rpm in boats is so important as long as your setup can handle it, can you please explain? And also do you know where I can find the technical specs of leopard motors?

No. The SF 300s wont fit in that hull. I think your motor/kv/voltage choices are off too. Go with smaller motors, lower KV.

Hey Keith if you would mind reccomending me a good motor ESC combo using leopard motors for that hull that would give me 80-90mph at least, also prop choices. Thanks

With too high RPM you must use small props with bad efficiency, with high RPM you have more chance to burn or brake something...

                    ESC : Seaking 180A
                    Motors : 4074 1400kV. A 1600kV or 1700kV should be better but not a Leopard

What's you experience level? You're not in "sport" range at 90mph +. You are talking about a setup that is high risk and purpose built to use for short speed runs. I can give you suggestions (I can only reccomend what I personally have used to accomplish these type of goals though, so it won't be leopard motors) but actually getting that type of speed will require some experience and testing on your part. If you really want to go for high speed the best way to do it is to start out at a much lower RPM and speed and learn to set the boat up as you increase speed. Unless you have a decent amount of experience already, a 90mph setup that you toss in the water and have fun running 90mph in the pond right away is not likely. Even in the case where I build boats for people that want to go that fast, and they are already set up to do so, I advise starting out slower. There is a learning curve with each boat that will help you to drive it at those speeds without losing your entire investment the first or second time out.

I think your goals are cool, and I'm not one of the guys that says "you can't". If you want to go 90mph I think by all means you should attempt it. Just make sure your expectations are reasonable and approach it the right way. Also, if 90mph is your goal, you have to be totally willing to lose it all at any time...

As far as the hull is concerned, you will definitely need to reinforce it, whether you buy it from me or HOR. I actually think the Fiberglass/Kevlar hulls that I have are the strongest of the 41" hulls in their stock form. The carbon fiber hulls are pretty thin without an extra layer or two of cloth on the inside. They are definitely light, which is good for efficiency in lower power setups, but not what you want for something that is bound to crash at high speed.

I ran a pair of Sirius 1520-1y motors with 240HV ESCs in a Fantasm that gave the performance you are looking for... Fast sport speed on 6s and high speed SAW runs on 8s.
                      Here's a run on 6s:

Wow that is an impressive 6s set up Keith!! one day I want to do a build like that, one day. I need a couple season of experience under my belt yet. Do you have pics of that boat on your site somewhere?

I don't have pics of that one but this is an almost identical hull (with castle ESCs instead of the SF ESCs I used in mine) that I built for a customer in Australia:

The carbon fiber work on the inside is all mine FYI...they don't come that way. I didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea...
The two hulls on the right are still factory on the inside:

Wow I want one... I would be more interested in buying it as a kit from you as I like building them a little more then running. When I feel I'm ready I will be getting in touch. Thanks Keith

                              sorry to highjack thread.
