I've wanted to do one like this for years. I wonder how well it's going to stay put. I'm thinking tape is going to shred it right off there.

No tape will not have any issues with this.
The material is very strong and has a coating on it to protect its finish.
I was thinking of wrapping my Cheetah but I have other plans for that so ill be wrapping my 30" mono instead.
Probably wont be till around the end of the month when ill have time.

Have you ever considered 'Ultracote' / 'Profilm' / 'Oracover' (Same stuff, different brand name depending in which part of the world you are)
They have a sticky film variation as well, and even in different chrome colours, see link.

Competition Scale aircraft builders (which I use to be part of) use this for ages already to simulate bare metal panels, but we usually scuff them up after application to simulate bare aluminium.
It does have a 'learning curve' for application, but is easy to correct (read:start again) if you make mistakes. It conforms to curves very good.
It's not cheap, but very durable.

Not without adding heat, and certainly not after a few days.

                            Chrome

Just painted my boat today still working on it. Used spray paint. It's not as chrome as I would like it to bebo but I think with a little more work it will look like a mirror
