What happens when the L.V kicks in on Marine ESC's

I have bought tow bots , it's pretty large bots, and the escs is one fighter cat 300a and one castle hydra ice 240.
In my brushless cars when the cut off kicks in they just stop, does the same thing happens wit boat escs? Or do they reduce the power so you can get to land?

Many ESCs allow you to program the type of cutoff, either soft (lets you bring the boat back to shore) or hard (stops right there). Some ESCs are one or the other, no programming.
