The guy to talk to about making an OM21 do amazing things, aside from the designer and developer himself (Hi Randy! :) ) would be Bill Oxidean... That guy has pushed these boats to places I don't think Randy EVER imagined them going!!
Back in the Brushed days, these were pretty hard to be for N1-Mono (27T Brushed on 6-cell NiMH)...
I don't think they like big props, so I'd stick with 2S, and go with something that has some RPMs... Randy has the right idea... the CC5800 Mamba would push this boat probably beyond it's design limits, but would certainly be FUN!! :)
These boats also handle a little rough water better than the average 21"-ish sized hull... Definitely an "Offshore" look and feel.Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

Randy, brushless 05 power is what motor. I have some 05 reedy 11/1- 10/2-9/1 winds- also some Reedy 12/5 of which i have 5 of them and some similiar name brands in the same winds. I got these when they were popular and then boom bl came alive and these are in excellent shape. I have a com ( cobra ) cutter, nice. Let me know which motors would be would be best in oval curcuit, thanks! BTW- would a 2550 Leo from offshore on 3S fit the bill?Last edited by jstolz; 01-23-2013, 12:56 AM.Comment

I first pushed this hull on a 17.5 motor on 6-7 nicad as randy suggested and sold it to me in the late 90s on a 431 and 432 but as power has progressed ive talked to him in person and after a couple flexes and bushing im rolling sport but i run sport and saw and for anybody that queustions that talk to my friends here or shut it down newbiesComment

The boat does love a small 435/3 it can be cut down to fit in the motors operating power band. Big props make the boat flop all over the place. Back when I was Oval and SAW racing it I built my own 432/3 and 632/3 I won a lot of championships this way. Now I just want to have fun at the local pond and it is ware it was developed at Heather Farms the local duck poop pond.Comment
