Hi all, can anyone suggest which esc's i should be looking at for the following..... 1. I have a leopard 2040 2600kv i plan on putting in one of my own design micro hydroplanes. Want to run it with 3s and 4s. 2. Also Have a 2860 2260kv leopard i also want to run on 3s-4s. Hobby king now have a store in adelaide, so i may try some of their stuff.... but not sure which ones to look at. trying to put together a reliable package, but would like to keep cost down. All my experience has been with brushed motors so im a bit oblivious to what i need for these motors... cheers.
esc recomendations?

Hi,
I am not sure what amp esc you will need with out seeing a hull,
But 35 amp may be to small for your setup.
These are very good ones and get a program card to make things easy for you,
Also you should use 5.5 bullet on all connection for a good setup.
This is the same esc that hoppyking has, Just a different name on it,
With free shipping to.

Thanks lenny, my hydro is 16 inch.... the tunnel/cat is 15 inch. Also have a 19 inch stepped mono (was thinking of trying with the 2860). All are prototype hulls that i have been playing with. Have moulds so can make em as heavy/light as i need to. :-)Im confused..... no...wait...mabee im not?Comment

Hello
I am using the Leo 2040 (2700KV) on 3S in a Small Bolt (16") with either this one: or this one.
The boat is running with a 35mm metal 2 blade prop and the ESC are cold after 10 minutes of running (2250 lipo).
The motor is slightly warm (maybe 30 degrees Celsius) after the same run but keep in mind that is winter and the water is very cold now.
You do not need the 120A ESC with that small motor, 60A is more that enough.

Ooops I forgot to add, Im looking for a flexhex/ coupling to suit the 2040 as well. 2.3mm shaft - 4mm flex. On the data sheet for 2040 it says max 11 amps. the 2860 is max 50 amps... :-)Im confused..... no...wait...mabee im not?Comment

Not sure where to get a good coupler that size,
Good looking hulls their Richard,
I have a mini bolt to with stock setup in it,
But I modded the hatch with a seal and nut.
Also I am running a y535 prop on it.
I just like the 120a for the price and for use in a lot of hulls and setup's.Comment

As long as you are not pushing the amp envelope---
I think the aquacraft 60A UL1 Marine ESCs are great. I use one in my OPC racing tunnel (UL1 2030kv motor on 4S1P). They are already water resistant-- mine has been underwater
several times and still works.

I also uses the standard proboat 60A esc in my 4S1P 1/10 shovelnose hydro and that boat gets soaked all the time-- never had a proboat ESC fail due to water either.
