    Hey looking good,
    Good luck with that baby.
Is that transom very thick ?
Just because, That rudder bracket is going to put a lot of torque on it.
How long is that thing ?

I use 6" bracket, the transom wood is really thick Lenny, its thicker than any boat I worked on before like Sniper and DF, to the point, I have to use epoxy instead no more space for nut to secure the water outlet. =)

        Nice and thick than,
Why so long of a bracket ?
Won't it put the rudder in the thrust cone of the prop more ?

Ok, But no hairpin turns for that big baby.
I think the 4"will do the job better and look a lot better to,
Also less stress on the transom to.
When are you going to run it, Tomorrow ?
Hey, Where that cat come from.

I'm far from a guru but I like my rudder to be fairly close to in line with the prop, not behind it but beside it. Would be interesting to hear back after you try both standoffs : 4 and 6 inch

Gorgeous boats! Looking forward to vid of the mono if you get some! You said 10s2p, but I only see 2 packs, are they 10s packs or are there 2 more hidden in there? Racemechanix ran a 6" rudder on his Sniper 45, I am building one as well, but decided to go with the 4", and have the 6" to try as well. I'm definitely curious to hear about the charecteristics between the two.

Beautiful boat! Best of luck on the maiden voyage. Still a few months until liquid water around here, can't wait to get my new projects on the water.
About this time every winter I start questioning leaving Texas!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Lenny, Allot of gas guys like 6 inch rudder extension. Personally I think they are overcompensating for something....

Seriously, Kevin's hardware set up is a typical gas set up with a 6" rudder extension and 2.5" offset. The Hurricane is a well built boat and transom can take the long extension, no problem. John Finch told me a longer rudder extension helps keep the bow down in the turns which probably helps in race water. My old gas Sniper could turn on a dime with a 4" extension but the hull wasnt the best in race chop so I changed over to a Aeromarine Vector before I had a chance to try a 6" extension.

Nice Job Kevin. Good luck with the maiden!!
