    Ricco 31" FE

Any one else runing a ricco 31" FE apart from Rumdog took your advise.
I got one on the way
looking for any advanced help on how to set one up

best place to locate batteries/batery etc?

best place to mount the motor up the front or at the rear?

Would i be better useing a 4" rail mounted motor mount, or can i use a nice 540 motor mount and floor fix it in the ceter of the rails, maybe remove some of the wood rails?

this will be my first v mono hull so i have no idea how to build it
    I have a leopard 4082 1600kv or 4092 1600kv or even a leopard 4092 700kv motors available for this build
    also have 2 x 3s 5000 mAh Dinogy 65c packs, and i also have 4 x 6s Dinogy 5100 65c packs

would a single 6s pack in the center be the better option or the 2x 3s packs either side.
Also would i need to chance any of the transom hardwear?
    Thanks
    Sam

Mine has no rails. I use the ETTI 540 mount. Motor as far back as possible. Just enough room to get wrnches on the coupler. This way, you can run a single 6s in the center, or go 2p along the sides. Works great in bot configurations.
did you buy the one in the swap shop? Good move. You'll like it!

Yes, it was the orange one that was in the swap shop,
      looking forward to it arriving
I am having a hard time finding a rail mount in the UK so might have to go with an etti mount, inside the rails, I can get one next day
the etti might be the better option then, if the motors needs to go right back.
not sure what to do with rails, if i use the etti maybe i just cut them down a bit.
it must run a very short cable?

They're good running hulls. I set mine up with batteries on the outsides with the motor mid length. Built like tanks.

Looking to run around 3/4 minutes, but more would be better. flat out oval racing aroung 50/55 mph

a few motor options. am i on the right track?

3674 1650kv good run times but too small for this heavy hull?

          4074 1400kv under powered?

4082 1600kv possibly the right choice?

4092 1600kv OTT. fast but short run times, and 6s2p 51000 65c packs to heavy

I also have a 4092 700kv motor but cant find a hull that suits, begining to think this motor was a waste of money
          lipos
          6s Dinogy 5100 65c single packs
          or 2x 3s 5000 6c Dinogys

            go with the 4082.
with the motor at the rear, you'll be able to run your single 6s pack, or the 2 3s packs. I ran the Castle/Neu 1520 (similar motor) on 6s in that hull and it was an excellent setup!

Ricco hull arrived a few days ago, and I must agree it's got to be the nicest hull i have, loving it, very strong and well build, very happy with it, thanks John.

              Going to run this one on a TP 4050 40 x 82mm motor running a single Dinogy 6s 5100 65c pack and I would also like the option to run 2 x3s 5100 65c Dinogy packs 6s

just started the mock up with the motor as far back as I can as Rumdog suggested, but i can't help thinking with the motor that far back the flex is going to have a real nasty swan neck bend, way

more than i would like if i ran the motor up front more the bend would go but this would stop me using the single 6s pack

is there any way round this, or will it be OK, just a bit worried that the cable will be under to much strain and keep snapping flexs running with bad bends.

              Any thoughts appreciated.

Also do you think i am making the right move with 1450kv wind, motor or should i go for 1250kv, or even 1600kv

              thanks

Thanks Kent looks good, but i want to run mine on 6s1p if i can get it setup right,

Still moving things around, not liking the sharp bend on the cable with the motor were it is in the pic, any further back and the cable is way bent, not sure how i will get the stuffing tube to work when the time comes to start fixing in,

starting to wonder if the hull is too small for a single 6s 5100 pack without it being nose heavy. its my first ever v hull so not sure what I am doing really!

                    HELP!!!!!

3740 1760KV out-runner waiting for the factory TP4082 1450kv pro motor. but might end up trying the out-runner first time out.

Cool....just to let you know, my Rico's CofG is right around 34 percent of the length of the hull (from the transom) running in race water....hope that helps you a bit...

                        Thanks it's that 34% of 31"
Would that be around 10.5" from the transom ?

                          You got it.....

Btw...in your first post you have a pic of the transom....it looks like the spin fin is setup wrong (straight up and down...parallel to the rudder) make sure it is mounted 90° to the bottom of the riding surface. When the boat turns it will roll to one side...you want the spin fin to enter the water at 90° when the boat is turning....

I remove the spin Fin to replace with a pair of turn fins
Do you think that would be better,or not necessary?
Or Just adjust the one spin fin to 90 the one that I already have in the first post if iam using it for oval racing do i only need the one?

One more thing....start out with all of the trim tabs at 0°....use a straightedge/ ruler and get them flush with the bottom. Same thing with the strut....0°...no neg. or pos. angle....

Don't know what prop will work best for your setup but I am running an m445 (Doug Smock tuned prop), Neu 1515 1y (2200kv), Castle 240lv esc and 4S2P Hyperions.....screams and everything comes in just warm after a heat race...
