    Filling holes?

I need to fill a couple of holes in the transom from incorrectly placed trim tabs. The transom has plywood for reinforcement. New holes will needed to be drilled very close to the filled holes. Any suggestions guys?

JB Weld! That stuff works great for holes. I tape the inside of the hole and fill it in,let it dry, then apply several skim coats til its flush with the transom. No problems so far!

I use two part marine epoxy then mix in micro balloons to thicken the epoxy to make a paste filler. Or u can use the 30 min hobby epxoy tape the back side fill the hole with epoxy, use wax paper and tape over your repair. The problem with job weld and auto body fillers they shrink and are preamreable they will soak up water and blister up. If the repair area is going to be subjected to any stress or near another hole I would reccomend using epxoy.

I use the finishing epoxy with micro balloons. I simply put masking tape inside the hull, fill on the outside. Then I sand flush.

Your problem is going to be redrilling holes partially into the filled holes.

If its close enough, could you open the holes up a little larger and make them work? I always silicone up all holes, so you can do that to fill the excess also.

Make some hardwood dowel pins. Coat with epoxy, then press them in right through the holes so they are are just below the transom surface. Then flush surface off with epoxy fillers. should be able to drill new holes no probs. :-)
