space between the shaft and the stingers

I'm wondering if it is good to have a 4mm space between the shaft and the singers, my flexible shaft has a lengt of 250mm.
it is said that you have to have the diameter of the flex shaft 1/4 as a space.

I hope this is not too much so there will be too much friction on the engine bearings.
some good advice from you guys would be cool.
    thanks

You'd be better off posting this in the questions and answers forum.
It does look like a bit much(to me), but I don't see how that would put any more load on the motor bearings. I use thrust bearings between the coupler and motor as much as possible anyway, that takes a lot of load off the motor bearings if set up right.

You need a gap equal to the flex cable diameter, or close to as it contracts under load.

So if you have done that you are good.
