Twin motors on a single esc?

Just wondering if anyone has actually done this in one of their boats and was there any drawbacks other than the increased current load on the esc?

Also is there a way of having the motors counter rotating when connecting them in this manner?

There was some discussion about this last year and I believe it worked.I think the subject just needs a wealthy guinea pig.Two motors in our situations would need something bigger than an T-180.

What kind of build? Escs are cheap enough now I'd run two if at all possible. Given the damage an esc failure can cause I wouldn't want to risk taking out motors, batteries or my RX if it went poof.
I know last year somebody did hook a pair of motors up to one esc and it did run, no idea if they ever tried it under load on the water.
FC did used to have a twin esc, no idea if the place still selling them in china continued that model, also read some mixed reviews about the line of escs.
No personal experience with FC escs though, so I can't offer any valid opinion on them, only hearsay. I know a buddy has one of the 300 amp ones now, won't see it in action until the water goes soft again though! LOL -16C out today! Froze my butt of at 3 am working out there!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

I have one of the "biggie" Twin 300's here.Best I can tell is it is two 16s 300's with one lead to the Rx.I know Ben was trying this because of synchronization or something.I have not run mine yet as there is a skim of ice on my lake now too out here -3 overnight

Remember the motors on the youtube movie are not running loaded and they draw less amps then in a boat with 2 motors and a big prop. You cvannot compare this. I would buy 2 esc instead of frying an esc in the first minute.

SEE WHAT I MEAN "a wealthy guinea pig". BTW I run two ESC's on my twins.

I would think sooner or later the syncing of the brushless would end up biting you in the ...

You can spin either motor in either direction by reversing any two motor outputs on the esc

No fear Doc W, as you know I'm only running singles. I thought it was interesting but never seen it in any posts or pics before so just thought I'd put it out there to see whether anyone had put it into practice....

                    Cheers, Ari

Had esc failure that melted wire to motor, charred side of boat, esc was basically charcoal. Never want another one.
